Pakistan vs England Test Series 2024: Schedule, Squads, Telecast
Pakistan will host England for a three-match Test series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The matches will be held at two venues. The series begins on Monday, October 7, with the first Test at the Multan Cricket Ground. The second Test will also be played in Multan, starting on October 15. The series will conclude with the third and final Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, starting on October 24.
Pakistan has announced their squad for the first Test only. Shan Masood will captain the team, with spinner Noman Ali added to the lineup. All-rounder Aamir Jamal returns after missing the recent series against Bangladesh, while Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali are left out. England, meanwhile, will see the return of their captain Ben Stokes, who missed the series against Sri Lanka due to an injury sustained during The Hundred tournament. In his absence, Ollie Pope had led the team. England has also brought back opener Zak Crawley and included spinners Jack Leach and Rehan Ahmed, who will join Shoaib Bashir as the three specialist spinners in their squad.
Currently, Pakistan is eighth in the WTC standings with 19.05%, while England is in fourth place with 42.19%. England enters the series after a 2-1 home win against Sri Lanka, while Pakistan is coming off a 0-2 loss to Bangladesh. This will be England’s second visit to Pakistan for a Test series in two years, having secured a 3-0 series win during their last visit in 2022.
