Generally, the study permit allows you to stay in Canada for the duration of the course. Upon expiration of the permit, the student must leave Canadian territory, unless an extension of the document can be processed.

Entry and exit from Canadian territory

The student permit allows multiple entries to Canada.

The student and the accompanying family group may leave and return to the country during the duration of the studies, as long as the student has an up-to-date passport and enters Canadian territory before the temporary residence visa and the study permit.

If a student wishes to return to Canada after their visa and study permit have expired, they will need to apply for others.

Change of institution

It is valid for the student to change institutions or study programs. However, it will be necessary for you to apply for a modification to your study permit.
